Find out how the lyrics to the Beatles song What You're Doing came to be written.

Beatles Album: Beatles for Sale : Track 13

    Year: 1964

    Lyrics: Lennon and McCartney

    Length: 2.30

The Beatles song what you’re doing was mainly written by Paul McCartney with a few bits and bobs from Lennon. Again the style harks back to the girl bands, with the drum intro inspired or more correctly lifted from the Ronnettes song ‘Be my baby’.

The lyrics simply reflect the feelings of a boy who is being messed about by a girl. There are some glimpses into the future development of the Beatles in this record with the use of piano as the guitar solo.
