Beatles EP: Magical Mystery Tour : Track 2
Year: 1967
Lyrics: Lennon, McCartney
Length: 3.00
Paul McCartney wrote the fool on the hill lyrics. It was partially inspired by the thoughts that people who may at first appear to be stupid and foolish, may in fact be cleverer than all of us; having little worries because they can just see the simple things in life.
The Beatles fool on the hill song was also influenced by a man that Paul met whilst walking his dog with his friend Alistair Taylor. They watched the sun come up and upon turning around there was a man there behind them who appeared to come from nowhere; they spoke a while and then the man disappeared as quickly as he had came. Both Paul and Alistair likened the meeting to being a religious experience.
On the recording of the fool on the hill song Paul takes control, doing the vocals and playing the Piano and Flute, george provides a little bit of guitar work.
