Find out how the lyrics to Hey Jude by the Beatles came to be written.

Hey Jude was written by Paul McCartney about John's Son Julian. Paul was a great friend of Cynthia and Julian and would often visit them during his time with the Beatles.

At the time of Cynthia's break up from John, Paul was visiting them and wanted to write a song for Julian that would explain that though things are bad at the moment that everything would be alright in the end.

Originally the Beatles hey Jude song was called hey Julian, this developed into Hey Jude to make the song sound stronger.
