The Lyrics to the Beatles PS I Love You song were written in 1961 by Paul, and it was considered by the Beatles to be a contender for their first single, it eventually ended up on the B side to Love me do. The song was however released as an A side in the United States of America where it charted in the top ten of the American singles.
The song came about during the Beatles Hamburg days, during this time they often played 5 hour sets, during a 3 month residency at the top ten club. They tended to play a lot of American style music and learnt a lot during this time about how songs were constructed and what would or would not work with an audience.
At the time of these concerts Paul was in love with a girl called Dot Rhone from Liverpool , and he wrote the lyrics to the Beatles song PS I Love you in a form of a letter to her. He would repeat this letter style writing with further success later on in his career on the tracks, when I’m 64 and paperback writer. Paul broke up his relationship with Dot in 1962 just as they were beginning their recording career.
