    Another song by John Lennon where the lyrics reflect jealousy and betrayal, No Reply tells the story of being jilted by a girl who has ran off with another boy. According to John the song is based upon Silhouettes by Robert Crewe and Frank Slaye, in which a boy realises that he is being cheated on when he sees the silhouettes of his girlfriend with another boy behind the curtains.

    The lead singing on no reply is mainly done by John Lennon, who is double tracked. George and Paul joined in with the harmony vocals, and George Martin joined in with the Beatles buy playing the guitar.
