Beatles Album: Abbey Road : Track 8

    Year: 1969

    Lyrics: Lennon, McCartney

    Length: 2.45

John Lennon wrote the Beatles Because lyrics. The song is inspired by Beethoven's moonlight sonata., and the introduction is lifted directly from the sonnet. This was not the first time that the Beatles had been influenced, knowingly or otherwise by Beethoven and had previously recorded the Chuck berry song Roll Over Beethoven on the with the Beatles album.

As Lennon matured musically he came to love Beethoven and regarded him as the greatest composer of them all.

John would make further use of this song when he included a section of it on his wedding album.
